As we all know red lipstick is the new bold and sexy. Wearing a nice bold loud red lip gives us women a boost of confidence and makes every path we walk our own little ramp and makes us feel empowered and strong. The history of red lips goes back to a time when the Women's Rights Movement was spreading all around the world and along with this Movement, the red lips that symbolize strength and power were also spreading. In the 1910s around 1500 women marched the streets of New York City demanding the right for female citizens to vote and their symbol of strength and power was the red bold bright lipstick. Starting from voting rights, red lipstick became the symbol of rebellion. This is the era where women would wear red lips in public as a way to shock men and a method to declare independence and break free from all social norms. A red lip can mean different things to different women, for me a red lip is sexy and passionate, to you a red lip could mean being ambitious and powerful. As we have seen in various fashion shows and at red carpet events there are so many celebs that have taken the red lip to the spotlight and flaunted it in the best way possible. What was once impolite and sexual is now bold, beautiful, and sexy. This is how the red lip has advanced in the world of beauty as well as it is one element in makeup that will always stay in trend. In India, the red lip was introduced by the iconic Devika Rani in the 1930s, this was the time when cinema was still in black and white. And after this era, the red lips were then seen on Marilyn Monroe and after that, the red lip just stuck on. Now let's see how in today's fashion world, the red lip is still an iconic trend. So here are 6 celebrities who rocked the red lip on the red carpet.
1- Deepika Padukone
One of the most admirable actresses, fashion icons, and a model. We have seen Deepika rock a red lip at many events but the highlight of this year was when she attended the Cannes Film Festival in a red gown with a beautiful neckline and silver jewelry. As her entire outfit was grand, her makeup was done in a subtle way with a nice brown smokey eye keeping it very neutral and her lips were statement red and bold bringing her whole look together. One of the most iconic pop sensations Taylor Swift. As we all know her for her amazing songs but she is also known for her red lip. Taylor Swift always wears a red lips, it's close to never that you will see her in another lip color. The most iconic red lip and one of my personal favorite looks of Taylor Swift were at the Grammy Awards 2016. She wore a magenta-pink skirt with a beautiful slit in the front and wore a red tube. For makeup, Taylor did a subtle eye look with a hint of shimmer which looked amazing as she has ocean blue eyes and lips were of course red lip. If you look at her entire outfits it just screams power as if she owned the Grammy's red carpet and the Grammys too. Makeup artistry is not only about applying eyeshadow and a nice lip, it's about understanding the outfit, and the hair and complementing them both in the best way possible.

3- Aishwariya Rai Bachan.
Aishwariya Rai has always been up to trend with the fashion world, and the former Miss World always stands out in a crowd. Her most elegant look was at the Cannes Film Festival, Ash wore a beautiful nude-colored gown with some soft curls looking effortless as always. And her makeup was loud and bold totally opposite to her outfit, she had a beautiful peacock-colored smokey eye and the classic bold red lip. Popular as a child actress and now as a model, fashion icon, and more, Zendaya has started a few trends in the fashion world inspiring many young girls to love themselves. As we know Zendaya owns the red carpet in anything and everything she wears. One of the most remembered looks of Zendaya's is when she walked the carpet at the Motion Picture Academy's 6th Annual Governs Awards wearing a monochrome outfit that is a black top with a white high low skirt, her hair was done with a sleek bun enhancing her features and complimenting her outfit. Her eye makeup was a simple nude brown eye look with some dramatic lashes and of course her iconic red lip and to match the red lip she wore some red stilettos giving the look an element of glamor. As I mentioned earlier makeup, hair, and outfit all have to go hand in hand, and as a makeup school, we teach our students tricks in which they can do a look in a way so that it stands out but at the same time not overpower the hair and outfit.

Diva of the fashion world, setting trends in western and Indian outfits, Sonam Kapoor knows what's best when it comes to fashion. Her most iconic look was at the vogue women of the year awards 2017 where she won Fashion Icon of the year. She walked the red carpet in a beautiful emerald green gown, her hair was styled in a simple but glamorous curled bob and for makeup, she did a beautiful golden half-cut crease with a good amount of blush and lips of course the iconic red lip. She won the fashion icon of the year 2017. Doesn't this entire look scream power?

She started her modeling career at the age of 2 for Baby Guess and is now a full-time supermodel, Gigi Hadid owns every ramp she walks and slays every carpet she walks on as well. She is known for her iconic hair flip and started the trend as well. Her most iconic look was when she walked the red carpet for the iHeartRadio Awards wearing a beautiful red power suit with a messy low bun. And for makeup, she went for a warm brown simple eye look with a pop of a golden shimmer and of course, the red lips just bring the whole look together. Again here we can see how the makeup, hair, and outfit complement each other.
