The Secret to any flawless makeup look is the Right Foundation There are numerous foundation formulas, shades, and coverages available. As a makeup artist, the objective is to pick a foundation that looks like your skin but a better version of it. However, sometimes we end up choosing the wrong foundations which either look very cakey or turn gray with time. Hence, finding the right shade should be your prime Concern.
What is Foundation??
The Foundation is the first and most important step in your base on which you can build your makeup look. As a makeup academy, we have makeup classes dedicated to the foundation so growing makeup artists can understand its importance. An inappropriate base will never result in a perfect makeup look. Foundation is used to even out the skin tone, so always look for the foundation that suits your skin's undertone.

Now, the question arises, What is Skin Undertone?
The term "warm", "cool" or "neutral" are frequently used by Makeup Artists and makeup academies. These terms are used to determine the undertone of the skin. In layman's terms, Skin Undertone is the hue (color) that comes within the skin from Underneath.
These are the different Types of Undertones that we talk about in our makeup class at our academy:-
Warm - If there are more yellow, peach, and golden hues, then the undertone is considered ‘warm’.
Cool - If the overall complexion of a person has more blue, pink, and red hues then the undertone is classified as ‘cool’.
Neutral - If there are no cool or warm undertones, then they are said to have neutral undertones.
In our makeup courses we have a lot of different ways to identify undertones but here are a few simple steps we give in our makeup classes to determine the skin undertone:-
The Vein Test
Warm:- The veins that appear greenish or olive are considered as the warm undertone
Cool:- The veins that appear bluish or purple are considered as the cool undertone
Neutral:- The veins which do not have a dominant color are considered as a neutral undertone
The White Paper Test
The best way to check your undertone is using an A4 SIZE PAPER cause the color reflects white so If your skin appears more yellow, then you're warm. If you see pink on your face, then you have a cool undertone. Usually, cool tones are pleasant to the eyes. Once we are through with the undertones, it's important to choose the right foundation for the skin.

Cream Foundations are usually the best catch when you want a long-lasting makeup look. Suitable for all skin types. Cream foundations have an opulent texture - much like a rich thick cream. This foundation gives a smooth and silky texture to the skin.
