Eyebrows play such an important role, it is the aid in framing your eyes that gives your face a structure. So when you wear makeup your face looks complete and gorgeous and also you can have full conversations with your bestie by just using your eyebrows right? Now just as how eyebrows play an important role in makeup it actually has other helping factors as well and as a makeup artist, it's important to understand the basic use and need of eyebrows. One of the key reasons for having eyebrows above your eyes is to protect your eyes from moisture like sweat or water from your forehead and even sunlight. It's basically a bodyguard for your eyes. Another thing about eyebrows is that it aids in showing emotions and even recognizing emotion like I said earlier your eyebrows talk before you do.

Without makeup itself, the eyebrow plays such an important role in the face. So just think about how important it is to fill your eyebrows correctly with the right makeup. Makeup can make or break your look because the eyebrow is the most prominent feature on the face and it's the first thing you see of a person so they have to look good. When I say ‘look good', I don't mean you need a Kylie Jenner type arched eyebrow, No, you need a brow that speaks for itself and expresses the emotion the right way. It doesn’t matter whether you have thick, thin, bushy, light eyebrows. It should be expressive and this is also something we tell our students at the makeup academy that we only tame the eyebrows. We don't change the eyebrows. As a makeup artist you can't change the eyebrows completely you have to make them look gorgeous in their original shape and way.

Now that we have a good understanding of eyebrows let's dive into what to do for your brows and what NOT to do with your brows. Below are the do's and don'ts for your brows.

Do - get your eyebrows down once in a while. Always go to an eyebrow expert to get the right shape based on your face structure. One hair pulled out from the wrong place will completely change your eyebrow shape. Whether you want to do threading or waxing, go to an expert first. After you feel like you have figured out what eyebrow shape is best suited for your face, you can do it yourself at home but with caution.

Don't - never pluck your eyebrows if you're doing them for the first time. It's better to be safe than to be sorry.  Once you start plucking your brows you will keep going on, cause the hair on the brows doesn't grow in a straight line. If you see yourself closely in the mirror, you will see every single hair that is out of place so if you want to pluck your eyebrows get them threaded or waxed first. Once you have your shape then pluck out the extra hairs that grow from time to time but NEVER pluck the ones that are in line with your brows.

Do- always brush your brows before filling them in with makeup. As a makeup academy, we explain to our students why it is important to brush them out before filling your brows and the main reason is so that you know what hair is growing in which direction and where all are the gaps to be filled if you just fill it in with brushing then your brows can look droopy making you look sad or upset.

Don't- another very important thing that every makeup artist must know is that while you are drawing or filling your eyebrows always stick to the original shape never try to connect the extra hair which is outside your brows cause then that will lead to boxy brows and will make you look angry which we don't want right.

Do- always use brown cool toned shadows in powder or pencil form and always try filling your brows in the direction the hair is growing, divide your brows into three parts and then fill them out. In our makeup school, we teach you all aspects of the eyebrow, and when to use what kind of eyebrow product for a particular eyebrow.

Don't- Don't do the mistake of using black color to fill your brows, as black being a shadow color is not advised to use to fill the brows. Most Indians have the same color of hair growing on their head and brows and the majority time it is dark brown or black. So if you go to fill your brows with black, it will make the brows look very full and will attract a lot of attention. You will tend to look a little grumpy with full black brows.
